Nobody wants rain on the day they're planning to have their pictures taken. If you're hosting a wedding, your options are limited. But rest easy. We're there for you. We always come prepared to create stunning images with you in even the worst weather.
But you're probably here because you're planning a different kind of photo session—engagement photos, family photos, maternity photos, senior photos. So keep reading for our rain policy and feel free to ask us directly if you have any questions:
We try to keep your session.
If you don't hear from us before your session, we're still planning on being there. We are always willing to arrive to the pre-arranged location for your photoshoot and wait at least 30 minutes for inclement weather to move on.
If you're concerned that rain is going to spoil your shoot, please let us know as soon as possible. Unless it's pouring outside, conditions are usually fine for us to work in. That being said, we realize that you may not want to risk it and that's perfectly fine. We recommend the following options:
Option 1: Rescheduling
If you want to reschedule, please let us know as soon as possible. We'll keep your downpayment and arrange a new date with you at no extra charge.
Option 2: Change location
We don't have an indoor studio but sometimes a shoot location may be near a sheltered area that we can use to create your photos. Take a look at this family photo. The rain simply wouldn't let up for this session but we were close to the Abingdon Farmer's Market so we drove over and used it to create some colorful fall photos for this adorable family. You'll see that the location on its own left a lot to be desired but with a few of our colored lights it became a warm, autumn evening perfect for family photos and perfectly dry!

Alternatively, we're also usually happy to create photos in your home or another indoor space that you have access to.
Option 3: Embrace the chaos
Are you adventurous? Maybe you secretly like the idea of having your photos taken in the rain. While we do have to take care to protect our gear, we've been known to create memorable rain photos before and might be able to create some for you as well!
