Operating out of Northeast Tennessee we're seated in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, or, more specifically, the Blue Ridge Mountains. It's a bit of an understatement to say that we are surrounded by some truly beautiful backdrops for all kinds of photography.

Now a drive to and hike up the nearest range might not sound very enticing to some. We recognize that some people prefer a rather different scene and we love to let our clients introduce us to the places that are special to them and that are part of their everyday life.

We loved this urban scene Rose took us to as part of her senior photos

Nevertheless, if you're in our neck of the woods and looking for a way to show off just one part of what makes this a beautiful place to call home, allow us to recommend a few of our favorite spots for breathtaking mountain photography.

Roan Mountain

These panoramic views of Tennessee and North Carolina are wonderful year-round. With nearby parking and a relatively easy hike, this landscape can be made accessible even to families with young children.

Beech Mountain

Beech Mountain is going to be beautiful year-round but we think it really shines in winter. Due to its high elevation, it often has snow which is somewhat of a rare commodity here in the South. In addition to being a great place for a snowy photoshoot, you can also plan to visit the ski resort or any of the wonderful mountain trails in the area.

Bays Mountain

In addition to the view of Bays Mountain that can be spotted from parts of nearby Kingsport, TN, the state park provides a super convenient meeting point and access to beautiful woodlands.

Holston Mountain

The last spot on our list of favorites is Holston Mountain, though not necessarily because of the view from the top. Rather, we love the stunning backdrop this ridge creates from below on South Holston Lake.
